A thank you from the San Louis Valley

It’s not everyday we get a wonderful thank you from one of the groups we donate to, but we thought it would be helpful for you, the public, to be able to see how we help shelters in need all over the four corners region. Please see below:

Hi Katja,

We just got your latest large donation for spay/neuter and I just regular mailed you a thank you and donation receipt.

We are deeply grateful for your help.  Especially since not long ago we got notification that our CPOF spay/neuter grant request was turned down because we are a no-kill shelter.  In the process we learned that the people who recently took over Animal Assistance Foundation of Denver control the state CPOF spay/neuter money (proposals are mailed to them). The new AAF administration has made it clear to us that they are not funding no kill shelters.

Your help has been a huge blessing.  In writing the CPOF grant proposal I updated the background data on our organization and found our shelter is in the 45th poorest county in the entire US.  I knew we were the poorest in CO. Needless to say we don’t get much in the way of local help from our impoverished service area.

With deep gratitude,

Frank Peek
